Time flies, and here comes another weekly update. This week my main focus has been on marketing, and, surprisingly, on a newly discovered activity: making sense of the activities recorded by my tracking system.
As I mentioned in other posts, to better understand which features are used and which not, I have incorporated a tracking system. And once a day, I get a report with everything that happened in the system.
By looking at these reports, I was able to pinpoint some places in the app that were confusing to the users. This has led me to discover a few small but significant improvements that I hope will make the system easier to understand. Iβm always surprised (and amused π) how many imperfections come out as soon as the system gets in front of the user. π
Yesterday, after launching FeedSubscription on Product Hunt, and also posting in a couple other places, Iβve got probably one of the best days in volume: 5x the number of visitors, and the number of signups increased significantly too. π
This week itβs been a different kind of work: watching and helping the new users get onboard, reviewing the registered feeds, and sending emails. Itβs not my favorite kind of work, but I do understand that itβs a valuable part of building a SaaS, especially now, in the early stages.
Besides this, it business as usual:
- research for deployment pipeline improvements; (more to come on this one)
- tracking system improvements;
- fixed a lil bug in the RSS feed checker;
- infrastructure monitoring and tweaks;
- research and a small but valuable step towards improving website performance.
Cheers, and see you next week! ππ
